  • Dry bean harvest season is here! 🫘 One of the highlights of this season was visiting Star Of The West Milling Company (@sotwmilling) in Michigan. On this trip, I learned more about bean production and how the season was going in Michigan, and visit many dry bean fields to have discussions with farmers. The Star of the West team - including Lisa, Matt, Jim, Brandon, and others - was incredibly welcoming and so generous with their time. They provided a great tour of their Munger facility, and we enjoyed lots of wonderful conversations with growers in the field. A special thank you to Lisa for organizing visits! 🙏 My sincere thanks to all the growers we visited as well! ☺️ Not only did I of course learn a lot from the visits and discussions, but the hard work and dedication that goes into farming always amazes me.   • Earlier this summer, I joined @usapulses for a wonderful event in Montana! The event spanned from presentations to research facilities, from product development to chef-developed meals starring pulses, from field visits to enjoying pulses on the plate at a nice restaurant in Bozeman, and more. Not to mention, I got to meet some wonderful people!! Madison and Jacob delivered great presentations on the power of pulses and their impressive culinary potential. One of the highlights was visiting @livingskygrains, a beautiful chickpea farm, where we were joined by Liz with the @mtpulsecrops. Another excellent stop Montana State University, where we met with researchers and got to see pulse product development in action. And - of course - the pulse-centric meal on the last night was incredible, too! A huge thank you to USA Pulses for the invitation, and congratulations on a great event! The @thinkmaxwell team did a fantastic job organizing an informative line-up of presentations and site visits, which painted a nice picture of the overall pulse industry. #Pulses #Chickpeas #Lentils #Peas #Montana
  • Today is the last day of National Farmers Market Week! Thank you to everyone who works so hard to bring farmers markets to life and make them such special places. 😊 Thank you so much to the Larimer County Farmers’ Market (@larimercountyfm) for inviting me to the farmers’ market to chat beans today! It was a joy to be part of the festivities. Christa T prepared some incredible bean salad starring beans and delicious farmers market vegetables and herbs, and Renee the Baker (@reneethebaker) made two different types of bean scones! Today is the last day of National Farmers Market Week! Thank you to everyone who works so hard to bring farmers markets to life and make them such special places. 😊 Thank you so much to the Larimer County Farmers’ Market (@larimercountyfm) for inviting me to the farmers’ market to chat beans today! It was a joy to be part of the festivities. Christa T prepared some incredible bean salad starring beans and delicious farmers market vegetables and herbs, and Renee the Baker (@reneethebaker) made two different types of bean scones! Happy Friday!! 😊 It was nice to be home for a few weeks to cook lots of beans, eat lots of beans, and visit bean fields! 🫘🌱 (And other delicious pulses like lentils and chickpeas, too!)
